Wastewater treatment services are provided on a regional basis by Fulton County. Fairburn's contract for this service provides access to this system for new customers. Expansion of the treatment facilities will provide an additional 24 million gallon per day capacity. Fairburn operates a water distribution and wastewater collection system for residents of the City.  Approximately 30 miles of water mains and 39 miles of sewer lines are maintained by the  city staff. Wholesale water is purchased under contract with the City of Atlanta, and wastewater treatment is provided under an agreement with Fulton County.  The City serves over 1,650 water customers and provides sewer collection to more than 1,725 households.
